How to choose the best mattress for your baby?
Did you know that your baby spends almost 18 hours a day on his or her mattress in the first few months?
In fact, a baby spends as many hours on his mattress in 2 years as an adult does in 5 or 6 .
But what should you consider when choosing your baby's first mattress? First, it's important to focus on safety, comfort and air quality . This way, your child will be comfortable in his crib and can enjoy peaceful nights with fewer night-time awakenings. They'll benefit fromquality sleep, which will contribute to their physical and psychological development.
At Kadolis, we offer to guide you through one of the most important moments in preparing for baby's arrival: choosing your baby's first mattress.
Choosing a safe mattress for your baby
First of all, check that your baby's future mattress complies with Decree 2000-164 of February 23, 2000, on the safety of certain bedding items. This decree guarantees mattress hygiene and aims to protect people against certain fire risks.
All Kadolis baby mattresses comply with this decree.
In addition, the mattress must be perfectly adapted to the dimensions of the bed:
- There must be no gap between the mattress and the bed rails. Don't forget that it would be dangerous to fill a gap with a rolled-up towel or comforter.
- Look for the right thickness: a baby mattress should be between 10 and 13 cm thick. If it's thicker, it won't provide extra comfort either.
A healthy mattress for your baby
To give your child a good night's sleep, while taking care of his or her health, well-being and environment, the best choice is a mattress made from natural materials.
Mainly because they contain no petroleum derivatives and are gentler on the skin. Our mattresses made from natural materials are guaranteed no chemical treatment or toxic solvents, which considerably reduces the risk of allergic reactions.

More advantages of our baby mattresses
Thanks to the included zipper, mattress removal is easy and doesn't take too long. Another added value is that the cover can be machine-washed (for recycled polyester covers) or professionally laundered (for organic wool covers) for impeccable hygiene.
However, it's always advisable to have a breathable mattress cover, which offers better temperature regulation for a peaceful night's sleep.
A mattress with a density suited to babies
Pediatricians recommend that babies sleep on a semi-hard density mattress, i.e. between 20 and 25 kg/m³ for foam mattresses.
- A mattress with a density of less than 20 kg/m³ is too soft and could be dangerous for the baby.
- If their density is higher than 25 kg/m³, they are too firm and uncomfortable for babies.
As you'll see below, all Kadolis baby mattresses have a density that meets the needs and safety of babies.
|11 cm thick
|25 kg/m³ density
|Coco fiber 48 kg/m³ + Natural latex: 90 kg/m³(*)
|Natural latex: 90 kg/m³ - Coconut fiber: 48 kg/m³ - Hemp fiber (density 70kg/m3) , equivalent to a foam density of 21 kg/m³ (*)
(*)The density of natural materials such as coconut fiber, natural latex and hemp is calculated differently from that of polyurethane foam.
