It is often a subject of discord between men and women: the management of the heating and the temperature in the room. It is well known that men are often less cold than women, and in fact people who walk around in T-shirts at the first rays of the sun are often men and those who put on their boots at the end of the summer are often women! There is a scientific reason for this difference.

Women are more sensitive to cold than men, what if it’s because of hormones?

Women are more sensitive to temperature changes and the temperature at which they feel comfortable is about 2.5° higher than the temperature suitable for men.
They often have colder skin: if we all have a body temperature of 37°, the skin temperature can vary from one individual to another and often the skin temperature of women is 3° lower than that of men!

The main cause of this difference is due to hormones, in fact estrogen makes the blood slightly thicker, which reduces the blood flow, especially in the capillary vessels at the extremities of the body, which explains why women often have cold feet and hands.

How do we get men and women to sleep at the ideal temperature?

The problem of temperature management is often a source of disagreement during the night, men are often too hot under the comforter while women shiver and add socks. It is important to remember that the ideal temperature for a bedroom is 18°, which is the temperature at which our sleep is of better quality. In a bedroom that is too hot, the risk of waking up at night, having nightmares and waking up with headaches is increased.

It is preferable to maintain a temperature of 18° in the bedroom and to opt for a breathable comforter which allows to regulate the temperature. If there is a big disagreement about the sleeping temperature, there are bi-density comforters that put everyone in agreement. A comforter with one side thicker and warmer than the other: a light side for Mr. who is always warm and a thick side for Mrs. who is always cold! The couples will be able to sleep together under the same comforter, each at the temperature that suits them.

And to cover the comforter, think of comforter covers in natural materials that help regulate the temperature better, bed linen or Organic Cotton contribute to a better sleep and bring a nice decorative touch in the bedroom.
